V. Basic Gameplay
AoE Blasts:
Putrid Mark, which is staff skill 4, is a Powermancer's only Blast Finisher.
You can apply Area Weakness with Chill Blains (staff 3) by placing that mark, and then placing Putrid Mark (staff 4) directly over the top of it.
You may also do the same with Area Blindness by putting down your Well of Suffering and then Putrid Mark (staff 4) on top of it.
Useful Tips:
- Using Dark Path (death shroud skill 2) just before casting another skill, either in or after leaving Death Shroud, will ensure a hit. It acts as a teleport and is great for laying down an AoE Burst.
- Life Siphon is great for proccing Chill of Death, the fire/air sigils, and Reaper's Precision (Curses Trait I).
- Entering Death Shroud after dropping your Well of Suffering gives you a +50% critical hit chance on the pulses.
- Using Dark Path just before casting Life Blast (death shroud auto attack) will help guarantee more hits, more quickly, especially when followed up by Doom.
- You can cast Spectral Walk before Death Shroud, very quickly, and enter Spectral Shroud, and also Lich Form to become a Spectral Lich.
- Entering Death Shroud immediately after casting Reaper's Touch will give the bounces a +50% critical hit chance.
- You can use Spectral Grasp to pull a target onto any of your Staff Skill 2-5 marks.
Main Skill Rotation
Single Target Combo 1: This is probably one of the most effective out of the Deathly Shroud rotations. I focuses on a single target, but delivers a brutal string of damage and CC's that's nearly guaranteed to down any opponent.
Start with Dagger/Focus:
8 - 3 - 7 - 4 - F1 - 3 - 1 - 5 + F1 - 1
A Variation of the Combo
(noted after the two dodge rolls; must allow for cooldowns)
Starting in Dagger/Focus
3 - 8 - 7 - 4 - 1, 1, 1 - F1 - 3 - 1, 1, 1 - 5 - F1
Single Target Combo 2:
Starting with Staff:
5 (on target) - 8 + F1 - 3 - 2 + 1 (F1)- Weapon Swap - 3 - 7 - 4 - 1, 1, 1
Reaper's Mark (on the target) - Spectral Grasp + Death Shroud - Doom - Dark Path + Life Blasts (exit Death Shroud) - Weapon Swap - Dark Pact - Well of Suffering - Reaper's Touch - Dagger Auto Attack/s
A Variation of the Combo
(noted after the two dodge rolls; must allow for cooldowns)
Starting with Staff
5 (on self) + weapon swap - 8 + F1 - 3 - 2 + 1 (F1)
Reaper's Mark (on self) + weapon swap - Spectral Grasp + Death Shroud - Doom - Dark Path + Life Blast (exit Death Shroud)
Single Target Damage Combo 3: This is the easiest combo of the group, but also requires good timing.
Starting in Dagger/Focus: For this you will be starting the combo with Death Shroud, but want to make sure your Dagger/Focus is equipped when you come out.
F1 - 2 + 3 - F1 - 7 - 4 - 1, 1, 1
Death Shroud - Doom + Dark Path (just before impact) - Exit Death Shroud - Well of Suffering - Reaper's Touch - Dagger Auto Attack/s
Well Bomb Combo:
Starting in Dagger/Focus: For this you will be starting the combo with Death Shroud, but want to make sure your Dagger/Focus is equipped when you come out.
F1 - 2 + F1 - 7 - 1 - 4 - 1, 1, 1
Death Shroud - Dark Path + Exit Death Shroud (just before impact) - Well of Suffering - Auto Attack - Reaper's Touch - Auto Attack/s
Well Bomb Combo 2:
A Variation of the Well Bomb
Starting with Dagger/Focus: This one utilizes Spectral Walk during the initiation of the Well Bomber so you may teleport back to your starting point And begin casting skills.
9 - F1 - 2 + F1 - 7 - 1 - 4 - 1, 1, 1 - 9 (return)
Spectral Walk - Death Shroud - Dark Path + Exit Death Shroud (just before impact) - Well of Suffering - Auto Attack - Reaper's Touch - Auto Attack/s - Spectral Recall
AoE Burst Combo 1: This can be used at range, but is more effective as a PBAoE burst.
Starting in Staff:
3 - 2 - 4 - 7 - F1 - 5 - 4 - F1 - 5
Chill Blains - Mark of Blood - Putrid Mark - Well of Suffering - Death Shroud - Tainted Shackles - Life Transfer - Exit Death Shroud
AoE Burst Combo 2: This can be used at ranged, but is more effective as a PBAoE burst.
Starting in Staff:
7 - F1 - 5 - 4 - F1 - 3 - 2 - 4 - 5
Well of Suffering - Death Shroud - Tainted Shackles - Life Transfer - Exit Death Shroud - Chill Blains - Mark of Blood - Putrid Mark - Reaper's Mark
Chill Burst Combo: Chill is a condition designed by the devil. It alone will make people not want to engage you for the simple fact that it makes game play suck. You get a bonus chill from Chill of Death (Spite Trait X)
Starting in Dagger/Focus
5 - 8 - F1 - 3 - 1 - 2 - 1, 1, 1, - F1
Spinal Shivers - Spectral Grasp - Death Shroud - Doom - Life Blast - Dark Path - Life Blast x 3 - Exit Death Shroud
I did no such thing. I actually just used this site as a point of reference so I could have visual queue's for the skills and their combos. I got the idea from a build I saw on Youtube, and if I could find the video I would post it. So, whoever actually, genuinely crafted this build, props to you my friend.
On another note: This is not a skill-less build. Beginners can use it, yeah, and spam some skills for an easy win, but with practice this is one of those set ups that's really, -really- difficult to beat head-to-head. Direct counter builds aside, I've witness this do some serious damage in sPvP and WvW alike. Right now I like using it mostly for PvE and WvW, and it's awesome! I can honestly say this is probably one of the most hard hitting builds that's also got a lot of survivability!
Have fun with it, and never forget, you can always change things up, this stuff is never written in stone!
