Summary

This engi build focuses on maximum mobility and very high burst. The high survivability of this buils is based on the high potential to disengage any situation and with nearly no downtime to reengage again.

Weapon and Skill Details

The rifle is the direct damage weapon of engi and with SD it gets the option to magnify DPS by a large amount. With 30% reduced toolbelt recharge you can theoretically proc a static discharge every 3-4 seconds. You don't have the flexibiliy of toolkit or grenadekit for more utility or AoE condi spam but your damage comes very fast and bursty.

 

In the end rocket boots + super speed offer the best disengage in the game next to stealthing and propably the fastest way to travel between points next to a mesmer portal. Slick shoes is a nice CC for 1on1 situation or also to knock down a whole team if you need the CC.

Stat and Effect Details

The build obviously relies on direct damage but Incendiary ammo is too good of a trait to ignore it. It just adds up even more DPS. Your toughness level is low but with 19k hp you can eat just enough damage to pull off your disengages and not get poked too hard by ranged condis of pistol engineers for example. Your control abilities with rifle are decent and slick shoes rounds it up.

Upgrade Item Details

Divinity runes just give the most stats and are nearly on par with max DPS runesets. Superior Sigil of Air adds to your ridiculous burst.

Fast engaging, fast disengaging. Pick your fights. Try to create x+1 vs x situations with your superior mobility and focus squishy key targets. Don't hestitate to backcap when needed. Your speed is stellar.

This is how a standard engagement could look like. Try to have fury up when dealing damage. Supriseshot whenevery possible to proc SD. Approach into nearly melle range to land your close range rifle skills and Rocket Kick. Continue hitting them with these rotations until they are dead or disengage with Rocket Boots and Super Speed when needed.

 

Panic button as usual is Supply Crate but you can also kind of open your combo with it if you want to secure a kill.

Great guide! I really wish SD got a little more love. I really hate how good Surprise Shot is, since Rifle turret is such a waste.

Yep it feels kind of stupid to take an utility just to click the toolbelt skill every 7 seconds and completly ignore the utility skill itself. Well what you can do is drop the turret to then destroy it before using surprise shot which gives you another SD. Since this isn't a targeted skill it will be one of those crappy SD that go into the ground if you don't manually look at the target though (like bandage self or super speed as well).

Btw usually unloading your full rotation on a downed target will kill him just as fast as stomping him so I only stomp on rare occasions when everything is on cooldown it vs tanky players that already burned their downed CC.
