Summary

A simple variant of the popular 20/20/30 condi mesmer build, focused on solo roaming.

 

This build utilizes the new Traveler runes to compensate for the lack of mobility found in most mesmer condi builds. The +25% movement speed makes a huge difference when roaming solo. You can use more stealth skills offensively, and position more easily. Escapes are far easier, too.

 

Building on the Traveler rune duration bonus, Giver's weapons along with food push condi duration to +90%. This allows for nearly permanent poison up-time (goodnight healing signet warriors), and +100% bleed duration after the Agony sigil.

Blink is a default placeholder for the third situational skill slot. Here are some good swaps if you know what you're going up against:

vs condi thief or condi mes: Mantra of Resolve
vs condi engi: Arcane Thievery or Mantra of Distraction (prevents magnet combos)
vs stun warr: Mantra of Concentration (or Blink)

Doom/doom gives great poison up-time, which is valuable against the current warrior meta, as well as eles and guards. Agony pushes bleed duration to 100%, and is placed on the pistol for duelist synergy. Bursting, in lieu of Corruption, also works.

Situational, but the rotation outlined above is a good go-to opener.

 

Learning to effectively proc the Illusionary Counter torment is valuable. For example, a thief's dagger storm is an incredibly powerful proc that is VERY easy to land. It forces the thief to cancel the elite, or eat 5 stacks of high tick torment for the duration of the dagger storm.

Cool build. Testing it out an I like it.
One question I wanted to ask as I am still learning the mesmer. IN the bottom, talking abiout the illusionary counter, been testing that out lately with great success. How can I make torment hit harder? I like what it does, but im thinking its a gear issue. I'll try that.

Midna says best way to get better torment damage off is to change runes on armor. Yes you have less speed but you can get the duration of conditions and condition damage to stack a lot higher. Plus with the already high toughness you could get undead runes for a lot more condition damage,.

Cyyrix is arguably the best mesmer I have ever fought. I've ran the different variations of his build for 3-4 months now and have enjoyed it since day 1. The most effective way to play a mesmer within the current meta.

Think it would still be possible to run a build like this if some one couldn't afford the travelers. Such as using rune of speed instead for movement buff?
